Greer has many assets to leverage for economic development. With guidance from Creative Economic Development Consulting, the Greer Development Corporation undertook a strategic planning process to take a fresh look at economic development strategies to best achieve its mission. The strategic plan defined GDC’s role in the region as increasing opportunities for existing business growth, attracting new businesses, driving higher wage employment opportunities, and diversifying the Greer economy. The strategic plan was designed to support GDC’s laser-focused mission. The goals of economic diversification, developing the entrepreneurial ecosystem, and marketing will attract, retain, grow, and startup new companies that will provide long term growth in Greer. The Greer Development Corporation strategic plan was designed to be implemented over three-plus years and actions were identified for each year. GDC is working with the Partnership for Tomorrow and other allies in implementation.
