ElectriCities Smart Sites Program

ElectriCites engaged Creative EDC to develop and implement a shovel-ready site qualification program. Smart Sites, or S2, qualifies a site as ready for development through a series of due diligence steps and community analysis. The first cities in the Smart Sites program were Tarboro, Statesville, and Wilson. ElectriCities continued the program with two more site reviews in 2015, certifying Washington and beginning work on Farmville. Six sites were approved in 2016: Greenville, Kinston, Laurinburg, New Bern, Rocky Mount, Shelby, and Louisburg. Four sites were completed in 2017 in Albemarle, Morganton, Wake Forest, and Hertford. A site in Apex was certified in 2018. The S2 program continued in 2019 with three mores sites and othes under review. The program has resulted in more prospects considering sites in ElectriCities’ territory.

“Thank you for your work on this.  The information prepared through the Smart Site program will help us as we develop and market the Albemarle Corporate Center.” Mark Donham, Economic Development Director, City of Albemarle, NC.
